HOMECOMING! Committee’s first event, the Launch Party, took place on December 3, 2011, at 2525 Weisenberger Street in Fort Worth. Framed as the collective’s entry into the commercial space race, the evening unveiled the XLP-11 “crude/crewed” launch prototype, pitched as “a spaceship built by the people, for the people.”

The event featured installations by committee members Christopher Blay, Tim Harding, and Kris Pierce alongside guest artists Elliot Johnson and M, with music by DJ Juan Solo. Guests were encouraged to come in space-themed attire and to bring salvaged materials, such as old lights, tin foil, and outdated electronics, to contribute to the craft.
