MacGuffin was an exhibition presented by HOMECOMING! Committee and and x art space in Fort Worth, on view November 8, 2013, through January 18, 2014. Named for the storytelling device that sets and keeps a plot in motion, the exhibition was conceived as “a continuous and ever-changing process” rather than a fixed installation, with live video feeds streamed online.

Its first act centered on a hot tub conceived as a “creative soup” for conversation and creation. The tub was filled through a nagashi-s?men ritual: participants caught flowing noodles from a flume of ice-cold water with chopsticks, and the runoff was pumped into the tub.
